My name is Hunyah and I am an entrepreneur, blogger, and YouTuber.
Care Hangers is a new business venture for me and I am happy to share with you about my business.
What is your why/motivation?
My motivation for Care Hangers Thrift Store is my passion for shopping at thrift stores. I have a passion to do a project something in demand. I took an entrepreneur course with Rise Asset in 2019 that is when I got the idea of starting a thrift store. In 2020 I applied to Rising youth for funding for my project then I was approved and my business venture began.
Looking back on the last couple of years, what has been the highlight or your most valued accomplishment?
My most valuable accomplishment in the last few years is having the opportunity to facilitate three different sessions 1. How to blog 2. Cooking 3 Entrepreneurship.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned and how do you apply it to your day-to-day life?
The most important I have learned it’s ok to fail many times but, it is good to keep trying until you reach your goal.
Which female role model or models inspire you and why?
I don’t have any female role models.I do get inspired by female entrepreneur business success in the community.
What do you hope to achieve in the next year?
In the next year, I hope to achieve my dream of turning Care Hangers into a complete establishment with a physical location to serve its customers.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
In the next 5 years ,I see myself as an accomplished business woman , facilitator, blogger and YouTuber. This success will be taking time to learn the dynamics of these areas.
What challenges have you faced as a woman in business (or creative) over your career?
The challenges which I have faced as a woman in business not being able to physically promote my business at a vendor event due to Covid-19. Another challenge would like market competition because there is existing thrift stores with many locations.
What are topics or causes you would like to bring awareness to and why?
I would like to bring awareness to topics like marginalized communities, low-income families, new immigrants, and students. These topics are where we need to make more services available in order to keep the economy running.
What inspired you to get into business?
What inspired me to get into the business is shopping at thrift stores the shopping experience is hard to find . Also the need of creating more thrift stores in the community.As more people face problems every day in terms of getting affordable products for themselves.
Share 1 piece of advice you’d like to share with other women and creatives.
The advice I would like to give is to always think of something that isn’t in the market yet. Be Creative. Be Innovative.
What advice would you give to young women in your industry?
The advice I would like to give young women is to try everything you can, there is some failures and success . But practice makes perfect.
How did you come to be successful in your industry and who helped you along the way?
I plan to start Care Hangers as a pilot project then eventually turn my business into a store for people to come and shop some time.
